Description:

This is a fine example of a scarce Japanese Navy contract Papa Nambu pistol produced by the Tokyo Gas and Electric Company . These were a continuation of the earlier Grandpa versions of the Nambu pistols without any provisions for a shoulder stock with approximately 5700 total produced in two serial number blocks, before production changed to the later standard Type 14 model. The chamber area has the circled "TG&E" markings of the Tokyo Gas and Electric company that produced these pistols for the Japanese Navy. The right side of the upper receiver has the first type of Naval Anchor markings next to the Kanji characters/inspector markings, over the pistol serial number "809". The right side of the upper frame also has the two small inspector Kanji markings. These early pistols have the slotted back strap which was filled in by the TG&E Company during the time frame when the shoulder stock was eliminated. They are still equipped with adjustable tangent rear sight, calibrated from 100- 500 meters and a fixed inverted "v" front sight, with the grip safety on the front of the grip strap. The grips are the original checkered hardwood versions, both are correctly numbered (809) on the back sides and the right grip has a partial white Kanji letter markings at the top. It is complete with a nickel plated papa magazine, that has been restamped "809" on the spine.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 75% plus of the original blue finish overall showing some small area of oxidation on the front edge of the upper receiver/slide and the underside of the muzzle and rear grip strap. With some areas of heavier pitting on the grip safety and front grip strap. The grips are in fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides showing light wear across the tops of the checkering. The markings are clear and sharp. This is a really scarce/rare Papa Nambu pistol in this fine of condition.
