This is an unique example of a U.S. Remington Rand Model 1911A1 production sample or tool room pistol. The pistol is completely void of proofmarks and never was serialized. Production sample pistols were manufactured because it was necessary to have examples of production pistols for educational or other purposes for the benefit of the workers. The pistol has all of the standard markings except the inspection marks, ordnance wheel and serial number. The left side of the slide is marked with the early first type "REMINGTON RAND INC./SYRACUSE, NEW YORK" marking, the right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY over "NO" and M 1911A1 U.S. ARMY". The pistol has the correct High Standard barrel marked "HS" on the left side of the lug and "L" marked blue contract magazine. The pistol has a parkerized finish with blue small parts, which are also checkered, including the arched mainspring housing and fitted with the correct Keyes Fibre grips and a lanyard ring on the heel. Comes with an original un-numbered box with correct ink stamped lid.

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% original finish with some mild edge wear and minor handling marks, and a couple small scratches on the frame at the slide hold open. The grips are as new. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some stains and soiling on the exterior.
