This is a high precision German altazimuth theodolite. The mainplate is marked "Hildebrand" and "Freiberg/SA" with the Max Hildebrand logo in the center. Stands 13 3/4 inches tall on a three-screw leveling base with a non-recording tangent screw and lock. The horizontal circle has a beveled vernier and two horizontal scales and verniers, a single level vial, an upright yoke with another level vial and the telescope. The vertical circle has a single magnifier to one of the two verniers, a single bubble level and both recording and non-recording motions. The telescope has a rack and pinion focus and tall striding bubble for precise leveling.

Good as refinished. The bright brass with a later lacquer finish. One of the five level bubbles is a replacement.
