Description:

This is a very late production US Army M1A1 Carbine as manufactured by the Inland Division of General Motors. It has the standard receiver markings with the late serial number (6283611) stamped under the adjustable rear sight. The barrel is marked "Inland Mfg./General Motors/10-44". This carbine has a combination of the late war improved features such as the round style bolt, type three Inland trigger housing, blue magazine release with "M" on the face and adjustable rear sight but retains the push button safety, and type two barrel band with no bayonet lug. The buttplate has the cast in numbers with the leather cheekpiece held on with brass rivets stamped with "7/4". The stock is a low wood post war version with the pistol grip having a "RI/3" stamped on the bottom with a cross-cannon cartouche on the side with a large uncircled "P" on the front of the grip. The handguard is a late 4 rivet version marked "HI" on the underside. It is complete with a WWII canvas storage case, marked on the back side of the flap. "ATLAS AWNING /1943" and a WWII green GI canvas sling. The magazine is absent.

Rating Definition:

Very fine condition overall with 90% of the parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with finish loss on the top of the bolt and the receiver side rail. The stock, pistol grip and handguard are all in fine condition with the grip and handguard both showing a darker oil finish with the stock showing a light oil finished appearance with minimal handling marks overall. The canvas case is in very fine plus condition with clear markings, tight stitching showing some staining and darker areas on the outside of the case. A nice WWII M1A1 Carbine with the sling and case.
