Description:

This is a very fine condition early Model 1903 Springfield Armory NRA sales rifle as manufactured in 1915. These N.R.A. marked sales rifles were actually all hand selected at Springfield Armory for sale to DCM members prior to WWI. This wonderful example has the standard receiver markings and serial number, with the exposed section of the barrel marked "SA/flaming bomb/4- 16". The rear sight is the standard model with the 2,850 yard volley notch, with the concave windage and elevation knobs. The bolt is marked with the steel lot code "C 6" on the underside of the safety lug. The tang of the floor plate is stamped with "N.R.A./flaming bomb" to denote it was sold through the DCM to NRA members. Fitted with a beautiful, some what tiger-stripped, straight grip walnut stock with grasping grooves, one reinforcing bolt, a "J.S.A." cartouche on the left wrist, a circled "P" proofmark on the underside of the wrist and a checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 70% of the blue finish overall, with the receiver having strong blue finish with thinning and blue loss on the front of the floor plate and trigger guard, sides of the rear sight base and bolt body from cycling that action. The stock and handguard are both in very fine condition with strong sharp cartouches, showing some minor handling marks on the sides and underside of the buttstock. The grasping grooves are sharp and distinct. A very nice looking late NRA sales rifle.
