Description:

This is a very early US Army M1 Carbine as manufactured by the Inland Div. of General Motors that was subsequently rebuilt after WWII. It has the standard receiver markings with the early serial number stamped under the adjustable rear sight. The barrel is marked "Inland Mfg./General Motors/6-43". This carbine has a combination of early/late features with mixed makers parts, typically seen on U.S. Government rebuilt M1 carbines. It has the type three barrel band/bayonet lug," S.G." marked, flat blued bolt, a three- piece brazed trigger housing marked "BE-B", a late adjustable "HI" marked rear sight, a "W" marked operation slide, a flip safety lever, and the "M/underlined" magazine release button. It has an "IO" marked, low wood stock with the "IO" marked pistol grip with a circled "P" proof on the side. The folding stock has a leather cheekpiece with steel rivets and the rough cast, folding buttplate has very faint casting marks on the back side. The handguard is unmarked, 2 rivet version. It is complete with an original green GI canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Arsenal refurbished with half of the reparkerized finish overall, with wear on the edge and high spots from handling and shooting. The stock and handguard are both in very good condition showing their arsenal refurbishment. A solid M1A1 paratrooper carbine.
