Description:

This example was manufactured in Jan 1943. It has the standard front and rear receiver markings. The barrel is stamped "INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/1-43". It has the standard front sight stamped with "IS" with an unmarked two position flip rear sight. It has the various early parts such as the flat bolt, type two barrel band without the bayonet lug, unmarked push button safety, unmarked magazine catch release button, with an Inland replacement operating rod. The carbine is fitted with an original high wood M1A1 paratrooper folding stock with the correct, early two rivet handguard. The wire stock has the original leather cheekpiece with the correct casting marks on the buttplate. The underside of the pistol grip is stamped "IO" with a small ordnance cross-cannon proof and a single circled "P" proof on the rear of the grip. It is complete with an original early light green canvas sling with no magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very good with traces of the original parkerized finish remaining overall mostly in the protected areas and under the stock with areas of pitting on the barrel and under the receiver under the wood. The Stock and handguard are both in very fine condition with nice dark finish overall with light handling marks on the sides of the stock and pistol grip. The leather on the cheekpiece is intact verdigris around the rivets. A good representative example of an original early M1A1 paratrooper carbine. This example appears to have seen service in World War II!
