Description:

This rifle is based on a Stevens Model 44 1/2 falling block action with a Paul Shuttleworth installed barrel. There is a dovetail notch with a filler block near the muzzle and there are two scope blocks mounted to the octagon section of the barrel. The top of the barrel is marked "PAUL SHUTTLEWORTH" and the top left flat near the breech end is marked with the caliber ".32-40". The .32-40 is a popular cartridge in the benchrest and Schuetzen community where it has set many records. Fitted with a single set trigger. Mounted on a nicely figured smooth walnut forearm with Schnabel tip and semi-pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece and checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good as custom built, the barrel retains 99% plus of the original matte blue finish with some scattered minor scratches. The receiver retains 25% of the bright original case colors with a smooth gray patina on the balance with some areas of brown discoloration and minor pin prick pitting. The tang screws are replacements. The wood is excellent but ill fitting at the top and bottom tangs.
