Description:

Measuring 13 1/2 inches long, 9 3/4 inches wide across the trunnions, and 6 1/2 inches in diameter across the muzzle, this mortar is of cast brass construction, marked on top with a raised crown over an engraved "GR" cipher in the style of King George. No other markings are present. With a blue painted hardwood firing base with iron and steel fittings, measuring 28 inches long, 11 1/2 inches wide and 11 inches tall. The mortar weighs 82 1/2 pounds, and the base 61 1/2 pounds, for a cumulative weight of 143 pounds.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, showing a mixed aged patina overall. The base is good, with some cracking of the wood, and a few nuts and washers absent from the fittings. Mechanically untested; no assurance of shoot ability is given with this item
