Introduced in 1955 the Colt Python is considered the Cadillac of Colt's double action revolvers. The 38 Special was introduced circa 1980. This is a particularly rare variation of the revolver as the 38 Special calibers were produced in limited numbers, made even rarer by the nickel finish as originally it was only offered in blue. This Python features a blue blade front sight, with orange insert and an adjustable notch rear sight on a matte finished vent rib. The remainder of the metal surfaces are in the high polished nickel finish. The barrel is marked "PYTHON TARGET/38 SPECIAL CTG" on left side and with Colt's one line address on the right side. Serrated trigger and checkered hammer with custom one-piece walnut finger groove grips. Complete with the original Colt wood grain box numbered to the gun.

Excellent, with 98% plus original nickel finish with some mild scratches and a cylinder drag line. The grip is good with some minor pressure dents and a repaired crack running the length of the right side. Box is very good with wear on the edges and a taped repair on the end. A rare find as only a few of these were produced by Colt!
