Description:

According to the included letter from April Worth Robbinson, this saddle was originally the property of Roy Rogers, who gave it as a present to Robbinson's father, a member of his production crew that was retiring, as a token of appreciation for his years of loyalty and hard work. Constructed from black dyed leather overall with extensive and deeply cut floral tooling and silver finished brass hardware and ornamentation, the saddle horn is inscribed "Presented to/Roy Rogers/King of Cowboys/From/Production Staff". Included with the saddle is a multi-colored corona style saddle blanket. Born Leonard Franklin Slye, Roy Rogers made his living as a country singer before getting his big break in Hollywood when Gene Autry briefly walked out on his film contract, creating a singing cowboy sized hole he was perfectly suited to fill. Later, he established Roy Rogers Productions as an in-house staff for the Roy Rogers Show as well as the Western program "Brave Eagle".

Rating Definition:

Very fine, attractively aged. Some mild wear is present on the leather, along with some exposed brass on the fittings. The girth strap is a modern nylon replacement. The fine blanket shows mild wear and stains.
