Manufactured in 1946 during the transition period (late 1945 to 1951). Model 70 Super Grade carbines in 22 Hornet caliber were produced on special order only. Hooded ramp front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight on a barrel stamped with the Winchester legend on the left side. A Winchester oval proof is stamped on the barrel and receiver and the floor plate is marked "-SUPER GRADE-". Type I receiver tapped for scope mounting at the front and sight mounting on the rear left, pre-war safety, polished bolt numbered to gun and quick release sling swivels. The metal surfaces have been given a unique combination of finishes: satin nickel receiver, polished bright floor plate and trigger guard and blue barrel, extractor, bolt handle and buttplate. The highly figured straight comb pistol grip stock features multi-point checkering, right handed cheekpiece, ebony forend tip, Winchester hard rubber grip cap and checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as professionally refurbished/restored. The carbine retains nearly all of the blue and stain nickel finishes showing the slightest handling marks. The stock is near mint with very limited light handling marks and crisp checkering.
