Description:

Manufactured in 1940 (receiver). The carbine is chambered in 9 mm (9 x 57 Mauser). Although the 9 mm Model 70 rifle was offered until 1963, this caliber was part of a limited production run. Today the 9 mm is one of the scarcest variations of the pre-64 Model 70 rifle offered on today's collector market. According to David Whitaker in his study, THE MODEL 70 WINCHESTER 1937-1964, 9 mm Model 70 carbines have been reported but not confirmed. Hooded ramp front sight, filler block in the rear sight dovetail slot and Lyman receiver sight (stock inletted). The barrel has the Winchester legend on the left side and the two line address on the right side. Receiver tapped for scope mounting at the front, cloverleaf receiver tang, polished bolt numbered to gun and pre-war safety. The checkered straight comb pistol grip stock has sling swivels and a checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally refurbished/restored. The carbine retains nearly all of the blue finish showing some minor thinning at the muzzle. The stock is also very fine showing the slightest handling marks with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
