Often referred to as the Winder Musket after the acclaimed marksman Colonel C.B. Winder. Manufactured circa 1922. Standard blade front sight and Lyman receiver peep sight adjustable for windage and elevation. Left side of barrel marked with the two line Winchester address/patent dates and "22 SHORT" at the breech, as well as the Winchester oval proof, which is also marked on the top left side of the receiver. The three line Winchester trade mark on the upper tang. Mounted with a smooth full walnut forearm with finger grooves and straight grip stock with a steel carbine buttplate and sling swivels.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The musket retains 80% original blue finish with some thinning and a small area of rust on the barrel, flaking on the receiver with a smooth brown patina on the exposed surfaces, and thinning and minor oxidation on the tangs. The wood has been freshened with a coat of varnish and remains fine with some scattered minor dents and dings. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
