Description:

Manufactured in 1884. The top of the barrel has the one line Hartford address and the left side has the etched panel "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked "44 CF". The serial number is marked on the butt and the rear face of the cylinder is marked with a small "P", "B" and "753". Blade front and frame notch rear sights, nickel finish with niter blue hammer and trigger, and fitted with smooth ivory grips. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, nickel finish with the grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 2 two E.K. Tryon Jr. & Company in Philadelphia, Pa. on December 22, 1884.

Rating Definition:

Fair as partially refinished, the barrel, which is now an artificial smooth gray patina. The cylinder retains 20% original thin nickel finish, and the frame retains 40% original nickel finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The lanyard loop has been removed and the hole plugged. The grips are good with age cracks and pleasant patina. The left grip does not match the right and is crudely shaped at the bottom. The action is fine.
