Description:

This rare rifle was Manufactured from 1909-1910. Lyman blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight, two-line Standard Arms Co. barrel address, Japanned bronze alloy forearm and buttplate featuring high relief wildlife and logo designs and straight grip walnut stock. A large "37" is engraved on the floor plate. The consignor states that according to collectors, this number could possibly denote use by the guard force employed at Electric Boat Division (Groton, CT during WWI). The consignor also states that these guns were later sold as surplus to the Kentucky Prison System. A copy of the Henry Ford Museum letter confirms the caliber and serial number and states that the rifle has a "contract number on [the] floor plate."

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 95% plus original blue finish showing some minor thinning with some minor spotting. The stock is excellent with some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
