Manufactured by Clement-Neumann in Liege, Belgium, this carbine was Europe's answer to Winchesters Model 1910 semi-automatic rifle. It's estimated that only about 1,000 of this model were manufactured. The left side of the receiver is marked "MODELE BREVETE/CAL. 401 S.L. (10.32 M/M)" and "CARABINE AUTOMATIQUE/CLEMENT-NEUMANN/LIEGE-BELGIQUE". The serial number is marked on the lower left rear of the receiver. The bolt is marked with various Belgium proof marks and the bottom of the magazine is marked ".401 CAL.". Fixed blade and notch rear sights on the matte solid rib, all blue finish and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm and round knob pistol grip stock with a serrated horn buttplate and sling swivels. Comes with a copy of a correspondence letter, a Stanley catalog a copy of a Standard Arms letter and internet research.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have a dark brown patina with scattered thin original blue finish, mainly in protected areas. There is some minor spotting on the receiver. The wood is also good with some dings and scratches, (mainly on the stock) and crisp checkering. There is some insect damage on the buttplate. The markings are clear. The action functions fine.
