Description:

Manufactured between 1861 and 1874, the Model No. 2 Army began production just prior to the start of the Civil War and quickly became popular, especially among Union officers. However the Model No. 2 was never officially adopted by the U.S. Army. With approximately 77,155 manufactured, the serial number of this revolver would indicate early production. The top of the rib is marked with the one line address and the matching serial number is marked on the butt and inside on the right grip panel. Standard blade and notch sights, and fitted with smooth varnished rosewood grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel, ejector rod, cylinder and grip straps have a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting on the barrel, cylinder and ejector rod. There is some minor oxidation on the butt. The frame retains 30% original blue finish mixed with smooth brown patina. The hammer has a smooth mottled gray patina. The grips are also very good with 50% of the original varnish remaining, and showing some lower edge wear, a few tiny chips along the lower edges and scattered minor dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
