This example has a nickel beaded blade front sight and a flip up rear sight. There are claw mounts at the breech end of the barrels. The 16 gauge shotgun barrel is choked .028 and has a 2 1/2 inch chamber with an extractor. The 8 mm rifle barrel is sleeved and most likely chambered in .225 Winchester. The top of the rib is engraved in an oval "ERICH DEISSNER, GERA" and the left barrel shoulder is engraved "GEBRUDER MERKEL/SUHL". Has a tang mounted safety switch, cocking indicators and a front set trigger. Mounted on a multi-point checkered three-piece walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with horn trigger guard, horn grip cap, "RW" engraved silver initial oval, raised cheekpiece, four cartridge trap and a checkered horn buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. With a Hensoldt Wetzlar Diatl 4x32 scope a rear claw base that fits the rifle, two extra claw bases that do not fit the rifle and one claw base that fits the front rifle mount but not the scope.

Refinished, the barrels retain 80% of the high quality blue finish with scattered light scratches, dings and minor pitting. There is oxidation on the top right side of the rifle barrel where it has been resoldered in place and there are some wrinkles in the barrel at the same spot. The rifle barrel has been sleeved. The shotgun barrel has some scattered dings on the left side that are visible in the bore. The casehardened components retain nearly all of the high quality case colors with only minor wear. The wood is very good as refinished with a small filler repair, two small repaired hairline cracks on each side of the wrist and some dark areas. Mechanically excellent. The scope is excellent with clear optics.
