The barrel flats are marked "AMERICAN ARMS CO . BOSTON, MASS." and "WHEELER'S PAT. OCT. 31. 1865-JUNE 19, 1866". The right grip panel is numbered to the gun. Consignor states that the derringer was purchased from the noted firearms expert the late Norm Flayderman in 2005.
