Description:

The top of the barrel is marked "CLARK HOLBORN LONDON CAPT DAVISON" and the lock is marked "CLARK". Lightly engraved lock with a leaf motif border and a scroll design on the hammer. Iron mounting, sliding hammer safety on the lock, swivel ramrod, blade front and fixed notch rear sight, lightly engraved barrel tang and mounted with a full walnut stock with a skip line style checker grip area. Comes with a copy of paper entitled "Benjamin Franklin Papers-Hays Calendar Part 4 Section II" 1779 June-November (533 Items) from the internet in which a request is made to Benjamin Franklin to supply Capt. Davison of the cutter "Phoenix with guns, ammunition and men".

Rating Definition:

Fair. The barrel and trigger guard have a pitted gray patina. The remaining metal surfaces have a dark patina. The stock is good with a large piece absent at the front upper part of the lock, a filled repair on the underside, some chips around the lock, a filled crack repair on the left upper forearm, two small minor cracks on the upper left rear, and some minor dents and dings. The markings are legible. The action is fine.
