Brass front and ivory mid bead sights on the solid concave matte rib. The top of the left barrel near the breech is marked "J. PURDEY & SONS" and "AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON, ENGLAND" on the right barrel. The underside of each barrel is marked with the matching serial number and the flats are marked with "NITRO PROOF, "12", various English proofs"1 1/4", "2 3/4'" and "12/C" in a diamond. The water table is marked with two "crown/V" proof marks. The frame, side plates, trigger guard, break lever and forearm hardware are engraved with fine English scroll, with the addition of rose bouquets on the side plates and frame. Each side plate is marked "J. PURDEY & SONS" and the underside of the frame is marked "J. PURDEY & SONS/LONDON/ENGLAND". The serial number is marked on the lower tang. 2 3/4 inch chambers, choked light full/extra full with ejectors. Single trigger, cocking indicators, tang mounted manual safety with gold "SAFE", casehardened frame and side plates with blue remaining parts and mounted with a nicely figured multi-point checkered walnut beavertail forearm and straight grip stock with teardrop flats, solid recoil pad and silver initial oval. Comes in a walnut case with red velvet lining and Purdey label affixed to the inside of the lid. In the case is a three piece wooden cleaning rod, cleaning rod attachments, nickel Purdey and matching serial number marked oiler, a firing pin tool numbered to the gun, two screwdrivers numbered to the gun, a key and two nickel snap caps. 2 3/4 inch chambers, bore diameter: R- .730 L- .726, bore constriction: R- .032 L- .042, min. bbl thickness: R- .30 L- .35; length of pull: 14 1/2 inches, drop at comb: 1 1/2 inches, drop at heel: 2 inches, cast-off: ¼ inches, weight: 7lbs 12oz.

Very fine as professionally refurbished with 98% blue finish remaining showing some wear on the break lever. The frame and side plates are a mix of smooth gray patina and vivid case colors (mainly on the right side plate). The wood shows only light handling/storage marks. The markings and engraving are clear. Mechanically fine. The case has been lightly sanded and refinished showing a few minor dents and dings on the exterior and some light contact wear on the lining. The accessories are good or better.
