This is a World War II Japanese Type 2 Paratrooper rifle manufactured by the Nagoya arsenal. The top of the receiver has a partial chrysanthemum intact with the Kana markings for "Type 2". The rifle has matching assembly numbers (820) on the left and right side of the barrel takedown mechanism. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number "6971" and the Nagoya Arsenal factory mark. The bolt body and extractor are both matching and numbered (971). It has the later production tangent rear sight graduated to 1,500 meters with thin anti-aircraft wings, peep sight and an inverted "V" front with guards. It has a two piece stock with a cupped buttplate and side mounted sling swivels. The front barrel band has two screws and the rear has a slot in the top. The takedown hardware is matching on the side plates and the bolt, extractor and cocking knob match the rifle. The bolt handle is the correct plum shaped version. It has the standard late war hardwood stock with the large drain hole on the bottom rear of the barrel section.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% of the blue finish remaining with the balance turning a mottled brown patina. The stock and hand guard are both very fine showing minor handling marks and light pressure dents overall. Mechanically fine. As noted this rifle has matching numbers on the various parts.
