Introduced in 1964, the SVD was labeled as a "sniper rifle", but was designed for and served in what is now identified as the "Designated Marksman" role: a platoon-level weapon system with enough power and accuracy to engage targets beyond the range of the standard issue rifle. Hooded pin front and tangent rear sights, with the "arrow in triangle" arsenal mark over "1981" and the serial number on the underside of the receiver, with matching bolt, receiver cover and trigger housing. Milled receiver, with integral scope rail on the left side. Smooth stock, with vented hand guard and a thumbhole buttstock with cupped buttplate and a tan canvas sling. Included with the rifle are two extra magazines and a PSO-1 style scope.

Very good, with 85% of the Arsenal matte blue finish, showing some light handling marks and edge wear overall, and a number of dings on the barrel. The stock is very good, with extensive scuffing and varnish loss. The optics are clear, and the action is excellent.
