This is a K-98 rifle that was factory fitted with the ZF41 sharpshooters/sniper rifle scope. This rifle is a late 1944 production manufactured by the Mauser factory. The receiver is marked "byf44" and Mod 98 on the receiver rail. The rear of the barrel, top and right side of the receiver have the eagle 135 acceptance proofs and the left side of the receiver and rear portion of the barrel have the large Mauser firing proof. The stock and handguard are the correct laminated versions that have a nice dark brown color from age. The stock has a WaA135 Waffenampt proof on the right side of the buttstock and pistol grip area. The lower portion of the stock has a small "*" stamp over the letter C. The rifle has the earlier closed and milled upper barrel band and stamped and welded lower. The trigger guard and floor plate are both stamped, and coded "byf" and the mount is coded "duv" and stamped with the "Eagle 214" proof, both are unnumbered, and is complete with snap on sun shades. These scopes were set forward to clear the top of the receiver so as to not interfere with the function of the rifle and have a 1.5x magnification. It is complete with a cleaning rod, rubber muzzle cover, and cross-hatched leather sling.

Excellent overall with 98% original WWII blue/phosphate finish remaining overall. The finish is a combination of blued receiver, barrel, scope and mount with the balance phosphated. The optics are clear and the numbers all match on the rifle except the scope and mount. The wood is also excellent and has some storage dings on the sides and bottom of the forearm.
