Manufactured at the Mauser factory using a Gustloffe-Werke receiver and a stock reportedly manufactured by labor from the Buchenwald Concentration Camp. Hooded blade front and tangent rear sights, with "44" stamped on the barrel, "bcd/4" on top of the receiver ring, "eagle/135" proofs and "Mod. 98" on the sidewall. Stamped components, with "byf" (Mauser) stamps. Mounted with a smooth pistol grip laminated stock, stamped "H" on the right side and a marked cupped buttplate. With an original leather sling with "I & F" stamped on the buckle.

Fine. The receiver retains 50% faded, thin original blue finish, while the remaining metal surfaces have a smooth brown patina. The buttplate has a dark patina and some moderate oxidation. The stock is very good with scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
