Description:

This is an excellent example of a Colt Government Model pistol that was manufactured in 1926. The pistol has the post-World War I Colt bright commercial blue finish with fully checkered walnut grips. The barrel chamber and feed ramp are polished bright. The pistol has the frame recess cuts and short trigger introduced in October 1923, arched checkered mainspring housing and short hammer. The rear of the slide is marked with the pistol serial number "149/341" underneath the firing pin stop. The underside of the blue commercial barrel is stamped with an "S" ahead of the barrel lug. A "G" is stamped on top of the frame to the right rear of the disconnector hole with the same "G" stamped on the underside of the slide. The right side of the frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL/C 149341" to the rear of the slide stop hole. A sub-inspection mark "51" is stamped on the right trigger guard web. The left side of the trigger guard web is stamped with the assembler's number "W" above the Colt "VP/triangle" proofmark. The right side of the slide is marked with the legend "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE.45" followed by the Rampant Colt. The opposite side of the slide is marked with the two line elongated Colt's Hartford address and 1897-1913 patent dates. It is fitted with a flat base all blue unmarked commercial magazine

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine with 95% plus of the original Colt blue finish overall with some very minor edge and high spot wear. The only aspect keeping this from being rated higher is that underneath the slide stop lever are several small nicks/gouges in the metal with a small deep scratch in the half-moon milled radius behind the trigger; all from improper disassembly/reassembly. The grips are very fine plus with nice sharp distinct checkering overall with some very light wear on the upper left grip checkering, and some minor handling marks and nicks on the right side with a deep gouge on the underside of the left grip. Overall an excellent pre-war Colt Government Model Semi-Automatic pistol.
