Description:

This is an exceptionally finely made example of a full scale reproduction Colt Model 1878 Gatling "Camel" Gun chambered for the 45-70 Government cartridge. The gun is manufactured by Valley Engraving LLC of Woodfield, Ohio. The top of the receiver has an affixed circular plaque that reads "GATLING'S BATTERY GUN/3 JUNE 2009/MODEL 1878/CALIBER 45-70 GOV./MADE BY/VALLEY ENGRAVING LLC/and Neal E. Smith jr./WOODSFIELD, OHIO - U.S.A.". The gun has 10, 18 inch round barrels with 2 1/4 inches of the muzzle end being octagon. The barrels are numbered on the brass breech plate. It is fitted with a Broadwell drum magazine which is marked round the top "BROADWELL DRUM CAPACITY 216 ROUNDS CALIBER 45-70 GOV. -DATE OF MANUFACTURE 29, DEC. 2008-" and what appears to be four small words in Russian. The carriage is constructed of wood and steel with a dark stain on the wood and black painted metal parts. The gun comes with 4 custom made crates, an extra yoke and a tripod. The crates are as follows "22 1/2 x 13 1/2 x 12 1/2", marked on the lid for the yoke, "11 x 11 x 13" marked for the magazine, "44 x 15 1/2 x 14" marked for the tripod and "39 1/2 x 17 1/2 x 10 1/2" marked for "GATLING GUN SN. Unreadable/CALIBER 45-70 GOV.". This is a great chance to own one of these iconic firearms without the necessary down payment and long waiting list associated with the manufacturers of contemporary Gatling guns.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. Pitting is visible under the finish on the carriage seat (made to imitate age) and evidence on the wheel bands of being moved the gun is near new with only slight handling/storage marks. The crates were varnished in a way to make them look a bit distressed and are all excellent. The tripod and extra yoke are as new. This is a beautiful recreation of Colt's Model 1878 Gatling Gun
