Description:

One of 200 built for the U.S. Army Second Contract of Model 1900 pistols and shipped to the Springfield Armory January 11, 1901. This pistol has subsequently been converted from sight safety to fixed sight variant. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block Brownings patent and Colt address marking with the circled Rampant Colt at the rear and the serrations at the front. The right side is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number. Correct magazine marked "PAT'D SEPT 9 1884" on the bottom and fitted with checkered walnut grips. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish, grips as not listed and that it was shipped as 1 of 50 to the U.S. Government at Springfield Armory, Springfield, Massachusetts on January 11, 1901. Comes with two extra correctly marked nickel magazines. Colt manufactured only 3,500 of these pistols from 1900 to 1903.

Rating Definition:

Very good as refinished and converted from sight safety to no safety. The "US" has been removed from the left trigger guard. The metal surfaces have a smooth brown patina with 15% blue in protected areas and some signs of cleaning. The grips are very fine with some minor dings and nicks in the otherwise crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
