Description:

This classic American sculptor is most known for his mass production plaster images of early American life as well as Civil War characters. He did only 3 bronze castings in his life. One is Picket's Charge and this one of President Abraham Lincoln. This bronze bust of President Lincoln shows him wearing a suitcoat with vest and tie. A remorseful and worried look is on his face as he faces the challenges of the Civil War as well as his domestic policy. The bronze is signed on the back "JOHN ROGERS/NEW YORK" (Am: 1829-1904). Mounted on a square marble plinth with beveled top edge. Stands 9 1/4 inches tall x 4 inches wide x 4 inches deep. Weighs 7 pounds.

Rating Definition:

Very good with a somewhat bright appearance and some areas of minor pitting.
