Description:

This is a very rare example of a WWII contract Model 1911A1 pistol as manufactured by US&S circa 1944 without a serial number. This exceptionally rare pistol was probably produced at the end of production and was intended for some kind of presentation or as a production sample. It has all the various markings, except the serial number and the U.S. Army Ordnance inspector proofs. The frame is devoid of any acceptance or firing proofs, however it does have the correct: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" markings on the right side of the frame and the left side of the slide is marked with the intertwined "US&S" company logo followed by "U.S. & S CO./SWISSVALE, PA. U.S.A.". It is equipped with a late WWII Colt blue barrel marked on the lower left side "COLT 45 AUTO" with a single "P" proof on the right side. It has the late war narrow hammer spur stamped trigger, checkered slide catch, thumb safety, arched mainspring housing and Keyes Fibre grips. This pistol is complete with one unmarked WWII blue magazine. It has the original Du-Lite finish.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% plus of the original factory Dulite blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear, and some minor finish loss on the front edges of the slide and the underside of the main spring housing. The grips are excellent. A very rare and possibly one of a kind, "unserial numbered" US&S Model 1911A1 pistol.
