Manufactured in 1890. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "38-56 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "-MODEL 1886-" and the two patent dates are marked on the lower tang directly behind the trigger and the serial number at the end. German silver blade front sight and adjustable buck horn rear sporting sight. Blue barrel and full length magazine, with casehardened remaining parts, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel has a smooth brown patina and the replacement magazine tube retains 98% of the original blue finish, showing a few minor scratches. The receiver has a smooth silver gray and brown patina with strong traces of original case colors on the rear of each side of the receiver. The lever has a smooth dark patina and the buttplate has a smooth mottled gray patina. The wood has been lightly sanded and revarnished, and remains very good with three notches cut into the top front of the comb, and overall some minor dents and dings. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is fine.
