Manufactured in 1893. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "38 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1892/-WINCHESTER-/PAT. OCT. 14, 1884." and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Blade front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sight, (elevator absent), half magazine, all blue finish, half magazine tube and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. There is a brown round sticker with silver "553" on the toe of the stock.

Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled brown and gray patina, with a smooth dark patina on the lever. The wood is very good with some scattered minor dents and dings. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
