Description:

Information on this rifle has been difficult to find; notes from the consignor suggest that is was part of a limited display made up for exhibition at the SHOT Show, in the period shortly after Astra and Star collapsed and their assets were merged by the Spanish government to create the "A.S.T.A.R." (Agrupacion Social Trabajadores Armeros) firm. The basis of the action is a side lock hammer shotgun, with rifled barrels. Fitted with a ramp blade front sight and an adjustable sporting rear sight, with light scroll engraving at the rear of the rib and extensive markings on the underside, including "K.B.I." import marks, "S.T.A.R." marks, "45-70" stamps and Spanish proofs, most of which are repeated on the water table. The locks are lightly border engraved, with roll stamped cowboy, sheriff's badge, and "A.S.T.R.A." markings, tang mounted automatic safety and rebounding hammers with trigger-activated blocks. Checkered hardwood stock, with a splinter forearm and smooth metal grip cap and buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% of the original blue finish and 98% of the satin nickel, showing some light handling marks overall and polishing on the sides of the grip cap and buttplate. Stock is very good, with a few dents and a small amount of varnish loss. Mechanically very good.
