Manufactured in 1896. Blade front sight, the rear sight dovetail has a filler block and there is a short range tang mounted peep sight. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two-line address marking ahead of the rear sight slot and "38-55" at the breech. The serial number is marked on the underside of the frame. Full length magazine tube, blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with forend cap and crescent buttplate.

Fine. the barrel has 50% blue with the balance a smooth brown patina, the magazine tube retains 80% original blue finish showing some areas of thinning and the receiver retains 70% original blue finish with areas of smooth gray patina and some minor scratches. The forend cap retains 85% of the original blue finish. The loading gate retains 40% nitre blue. The hammer, lever and buttplate have a smooth mottled gray patina. The wood is good with some scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
