Description:

This is an example of a desirable Colt Model 1902 semi-automatic pistol manufactured in the Military model configuration. Colt manufactured approximately 18,000 of this military model pistols between 1902-1929, with this example manufactured in 1907. The pistol has a rounded rear sight, rounded casehardened hammer, squared grip, 8 round magazine, casehardened lanyard loop on the lower left side of the frame and slide serrations at the front, (which have been checkered). The pistol has the high polish commercial blue finish, niter blue screws, rear sight, slide pin and trigger, blue barrel and blue unmarked magazine. The right side of the slide is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" with the left side marked "PATENTED/APR. 20. 1897 SEPTEMBER. 9. 1902." followed by "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO./HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A." Fitted with black checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in a banner at the top and circled Rampant Colt in the center.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The pistol retains 70% original blue finish with edge wear, scattered minor scratches and areas of smooth gray patina. Almost all of the vivid original case colors remain on the hammer. Most of the original fire blue finish remains on the small components. "WHDA" is crudely scratched into the left side of the frame above the grip. The grips are very good with minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
