Description:

This is an outstanding like new condition late production, Colt U.S. contract M1903 Pocket pistol that was shipped to England at the beginning of WWII. The British markings indicate that the pistol was one of the "U.S. Property" marked M1903 pistols supplied to Great Britain under the Lend Lease Action 1939/40. Many of these pistol were intended/issued to the Special Operations Executive (SOE) Branch for clandestine operations in Nazi-occupied Europe. This exceptional pistol has both the "U.S. Property" and British Crown proofs. Over "BNP" proofs on the right side of the slide, and then directly below the U.S. Property markings on the frame it has the Crown over "BNP" and crossed pennants proofs. The chamber area of the barrel also has the full British firing and tonnage proofs. The barrel is bright over the chamber area with the remainder of the barrel and the one magazine all blued. The right side of the slide has the standard markings "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines below the ejection port. The left side of the slide has the Rampant Colt trademark located behind the slide serrations and the two-line Hartford address and 1897/1903 patent dates in front of the serrations. The right side of the frame is marked "U.S. PROPERTY" above the trigger guard. The left rear side of the frame is stamped with a small Ordnance escutcheon and the serial number is located above the trigger. The left trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt "VP" Verified Proof inside a triangle and the right bow is stamped with the assembler's number "44". The pistol has the standard smooth ramp front and flat top rear sight. The pistol has the dull green Colt, Parco-Lubrite finish and is fitted with checkered walnut grips inlaid with silver Colt medallions and is complete with one all blued magazine marked in two-lines on the base "CAL.32/COLT".

Rating Definition:

Near mint as arsenal refurbished with 99% of the parkerized finish overall with no apparent wear anywhere. The markings are crisp and sharp. The walnut grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp distinct checkering overall with just a hint of wear across the tops of the checkering.
