Manufactured in 1918. This pistol is one of 4,200 pistols shipped to the Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory on May, 27, 1918. The frame is a straight Colt manufactured frame with an "Eagle Head/S14" proof on the left side and the serial number on the right side. The left side of the slide is marked with the two-line, two-block patent dates and address with the Rampant Colt in the center. It is fitted with smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, checkered thumb safety and magazine release with the flat main spring housing, wide spur hammer and Colt barrel with two unreadable stamps on the chamber. Fixed sights, with checkered grips with diamond pattern around the screws, lanyard loop on the heel and unmarked two-tone magazine. The pistol comes with a brown leather flap holster with "US" embossed flap and "G.&K./1918/W.J.D." stamped on the back. This pistol belonged to Arthur Setterstone who was drafted into the Army in 1917 and was a member of the 310th Infantry, 78th Division of the U.S. Army during World War I. Mr. Setterstone was born on September 11, 1894 and died in August of 1968. The pistol also comes with a copy of the book "A History Of The Three Hundred Tenth Infantry, Seventy-Eighth Division, U.S.A., 1917-1919" in in which Mr. Setterstone is listed in the "Casualty Tables and Lists" under "Wounded and Gassed" as a "Mech", "M" Company in Thiaucourt on 9/22/18 in the back of the book. The book follows the day to day maneuvers of the 310th Infantry, 78th Division. A copy of Mr Setterstones draft registration, a copy of the Registrar's Report and a brief history of him also accompanies the gun.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The pistol retains 30% original blue finish, concentrated mainly on the upper rear sides of the frame and rear portion of the slide. The balance has a brown patina with some minor spotting. The grips are good with a small gouge on the lower left side, a noticeable small dent on the right panel, overall handling wear and some scattered minor dings and dents. The markings remain crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is good with some flex cracking on the flap, some staining, the tie down string is absent and the stitching is tight.
