Finish: parkerized/blue
Grip:
Stock: walnut

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 98% of the original parkerized finish and 90% of the original blue finish, showing some light handling marks overall. The trigger guard is arsenal parkerized, as is the front bayonet lug. The stock is very fine, with some mild dings and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.

B) U.S. Remington Model 03-A3 Bolt Action Rifle

Manufacturer: Remington Arms Inc
Model: 1903 A3
Type: Rifle
Gauge: 30-06 Springfield
Barrel: 24 inch
Finish: blue/parkerized
Grip:
Stock: walnut
Item Views: 1902
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 202
Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun
Description:

Model 03-A3 Rifle manufactured by the Remington Arms Co., in 1943. This mid-production rifle has a two-groove barrel and combination of blued and parkerized parts. The receiver and barrel are parkerized and the buttplate, rear sight, trigger guard, magazine follower, barrel bands and sling swivels are blued. The rifle has the distinctive rear sight and stamped barrel, bands, sling and stacking swivels, trigger guard/floor plate and buttplate that were used on Model 03-A3 rifles to simplify and speed production. The "S" style stock and forearm are oil finish black walnut. The receiver is roll-stamped: "U.S./REMINGTON/ MODEL 03-A3/4087983". The top of the barrel is stamped; "RA/Ordnance 'ShelL & Flame/9-43" behind the front sight. The left side of the stock wrist is stamped: "RA" followed by the Ordnance Corps escutcheon and "FJA" final inspection mark. Remington sub-inspection codes are stamped on the underside of the stock in front of the trigger guard finial and a encircled, block, "P" proof mark is stamped behind the trigger guard. Except for the bolt all of the components have the correct "R" marks and are original to the rifle. The bolt is blued and is the correct 03-A3 configuration but lacks the Remington "R" mark. The safety lever, cocking piece and bolt sleeve are replacement Model 1903 parkerized parts that were not manufactured by Remington.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains more than 90% of the original blue and parkerized finish and the stock is in excellent condition. The markings on the barrel, receiver and stock are crisp. The bolt is not original to the rifle. This is a good looking and substantially original WWII Model 03-A3 Remington rifle that only lacks the proper bolt.
