Manufactured in 1874. The serial number falls into the First Model production run with the receiver fitted with the signature grooved dust cover guides and the cover has a correct distinctive raised checkered thumbprint pattern. Standard two-line barrel address/King's patent dates marking, "MODEL 1873" on the upper tang and serial number on the lower tang. The brass cartridge elevator has no caliber markings, but is marked "ITE". Equipped with a full magazine and lever latch has the visible threads often seen on earlier First Models. Octagon barrel, blade front sight, adjustable notch sporting rear sight, set trigger, and mounted with a plain straight grip stock with steel forend cap and crescent butt with sliding brass trap door (cleaning rod not included).

Rating Definition:

Fair. The rifle is mostly a mottled smooth brown patina. The casehardened components have mixed to a smooth artificial gray patina. The brass elevator is good with a few handling marks. The refinished wood is fair with scattered scratches and dings overall. Mechanically very fine.
