The Remington vest pocket pistols are also commonly referred to as "Saw Handle Derringers". This pistol was manufactured between 1865 to 1888 and has factory style scroll engraving. The sides of the frame have a floral scroll pattern on a punch dot background and the upper edges have a geometric pattern. The butt has a punch dot pattern. The back strap is inscribed "Maurer Dec. 18. '74." The barrel and grip strap under the left panel have the matching serial number. The top of the frame has the two-line address/1861 patent date marking. It has a brass post front sight and frame notch rear sight.

Very good. The pistol is mostly a brown/gray patina overall with some minor blemishes. The engraving and markings are crisp. The period replaced grips are good with a small chip in the left panel (chipped piece is under the grips) and a few small age cracks. Mechanically fine.
