Manufactured circa 1870s with a total quantity estimated at 2,000. Although the derringer does not bear Hopkins & Allen markings, it does appear in their advertising literature. The top barrel flat is marked "XL. DERRINGER" with "PAT. APR. 5, 1870" marked on the upper left flat. It is fitted with nicely figured rosewood grips and a half-moon blade front sight. The serial number "347" is marked on the front strap under the left grip panel.

Good as repaired and refinished. The barrel retains 75% of the nickel plating with some oxidation particularly on the left side. The frame has some small patches of nickel finish along with a soldered repair on the front strap and a mixture of dark gray patina and applied case colors.
