This rifle has a heavy octagon barrel fitted with a German silver blade front sight and an adjustable sporting style rear sight. The lock plate is marked "A.T. RUSSEL" at the bottom ahead of the hammer. The hammer, lock plate, upper tang, decorative brass trigger guard, tang of the brass crescent buttplate and German silver inlays on the butt all have light engraving. The rear ramrod flute and the side plate are also brass while the forend cap and escutcheons are German silver. It is fitted with a peep sight fitted into a tap on the upper tang and a straight wrist walnut half-stock with checkering at the wrist. It includes a ramrod with brass tips.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The barrel has an attractive mottled light artificial brown coloration. The lock plate, peep sight and upper tang have a gray brown patina and the German silver components are mostly bright while there is an aged golden patina on the brass. The stock is fine as refinished with the checkering mostly smoothed various little dings and sections worn near the bolster. The action is very fine.
