Description:

This interesting underhammer pistol has a groove in the butt for stock mounting (stock not included). It has a globe front sight with an additional sight blade on top and a folding rear sight with adjustable notch/peep mounted at the rear of the gun. It has a saw handle style stock with nickel plated fittings. A small "2" is marked in the groove on the butt cap. The barrel is octagonal aside from the muzzle which is round. A variety of "buggy rifles" were made by William Billinghurst of Rochester, New York, with similar characteristics and it's not unlikely that this example was produced in his shop.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel has a mixture of dark brown patina and traces of the original finish with some areas of oxidation and pitting. The remaining components retain 80% of the nickel plating with some spots of visible brass particularly along the edges. The stock is fine with glossy varnish, some chips, and light scratches along with a hairline crack on the left side extending back from the breech. Mechanically excellent.
