This large bore double barrel percussion rifle was manufactured by the famed London gunmaker Wilkinson & Son. The Damascus barrels gauge at .69 caliber. The solid barrel rib is signed "WILKINSON & SON GUN MAKERS TO HER MAJESTY PALL MALL LONDON." Fitted with a blade front sight, four leaf rear sight (three folding marked 100, 200, 300) and a folding peep sight mounted on the stock wrist and the hammer also have a fish engraving. The barrel tang, lock plates, hammer and spur trigger guard exhibit a beautiful floral scroll engraving with the lock plates signed "WILKINSON & SON." The action has sliding hammer safeties. The trigger guard is marked with the serial number "6173." The nicely figured half-stock has checkering on the forearm and stock wrist, a single barrel wedge, sling eyelets and a flat steel buttplate. The initials "CD" are stamped on the buttstock near the buttplate and a silver escutcheon engraved with a mythical head.

Very good. The barrels retain much of the faded Damascus pattern with a smooth gray patina on the balance and showing some minor pitting. The stock is very good with a repaired forearm and a number of minor handling marks with some scattered blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
