Description:

Measuring 37 1/2 inches overall, the 26 1/8 inch blade shows a strong, wavy hamon, fine grain and is fitted in a silver finished copper habaki. The blade furniture and saya are in the military style, with a gold washed lobed tsuba and a stack of four seppa on each side, a brown cord wrap over cherry blossom menuki and white rayskin and a brown painted wood-lined metal saya. The tang is signed on the left with 6 symbols.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The very fine blade shows some light scuffs and spotting overall, a few light nicks on the edge and an attractive grain and temper line. Fittings are good, with dark staining of the wrap, mild handling marks, and a number of dents on the saya. A screw is absent from the koiguchi. The tang is well aged, though a bit brighter near the habaki, suggesting an older blade that was shortened at some point.
