Description:

Measuring 37 1/2 inches overall, the 26 1/4 inch blade shows a slightly wavy hamon and is fitted in a copper habaki. Round iron tsuba, with a cut-through cherry blossom design and three seppa (1 top and 2 bottom). Both the fuchi and kashira are engraved and gold highlighted, with koi fish on the former and a butterfly on the latter, brown cord wrap and gold accented beetle-themed menuki. The tang has been shortened, with 2 mekugi-ana and a 7 symbol signature on the left side. With a textured black lacquer finished saya.

Rating Definition:

Fair. Spotting is present on the fair blade, with brown spots of pitting, a few spots of open grain and some fading of the hamon. The blade is still in good condition, except for a tiny chip at the tip. The fittings are good, with some play in the habaki and tsuba, a few breaks in the rayskin, and mild handling marks. The sheath is splitting at the seam, with absent hardware and flaking. The tang is properly aged.
