Description:

The sword measures 37 inches overall with a 25 5/8 inch cutting edge showing a strong hamon with subtle, light waves, fine grain and a gold washed copper habaki. Four lobed brass tsuba with heart-shaped cutouts between the lobes, a darkened brass accent panel with vine engraving on each side and two pair of brass seppa. The martial pattern tsuka is fitted with a brown cord wrap and a pair of sculpted dragon menuki. An untranslated two-symbol signature is present on the tang, which shows a lightly spotted but overall bright appearance. With a black paint finished tachi-style saya with silvered brass fittings and an orange and yellow cord.

Rating Definition:

The blade is very good, with a few tiny chips on the edge, light scratches and spotting, and as mentioned above fine grain and hamon. A chip is absent from the top front of the habaki and the tsuba and hilt fittings show some mild wear. Some staining is present on the cord, along with some light scuffing and fraying at the elevated points. Saya is fair as repainted, with some loose/absent fittings.
