Description:

The New Model Army was a key revolver during the Civil War and the second most used after Colt's Model 1860 Army. The New Model Army also saw use during the Indian Wars that followed and was used by many western legends and the common man alike. The revolver is equipped with the standard pinched blade and frame groove sights. The top barrel flat is stamped "PATENTED SEP. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A/NEW MODEL.". Single letter inspection marks (D, R,W, and A) are stamped on most of the components. The matching serial number is found on the lower barrel flat and on the grip strap under the left grip panel which has a "RH" cartouche. The grips are smooth walnut.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 70% plus of the original blue finish with some bare patches on the barrel, edge wear, and a drag line on the cylinder. The exposed surfaces have a gray-brown patina, and the brass trigger guard has an aged patina. Strong case colors remain on the left side of the hammer. The grips are also very fine with correct raised feathered grain, some minor wear on the lower edges, a crisp cartouche, and some slight dings. Mechanically excellent with clear markings.
