Description:

Both swords in this lot have straight single fuller blades with Ames makers marks, brass hilts, and black leather sheaths with brass furniture. 1) U.S. Ames Model 1840 musician's sword, 34 1/2 inches overall, 28 1/4 inch blade marked "US/J.F/1864" on the right ricasso and "G.W.C" on the knuckle guard. With a brown leather frog. 2) Ames Model 1840 NCO sword, 38 1/2 inches overall, with a 32 inch blade marked "US/T.K.L/1864" on the right ricasso, "C.S.L" on the rear quillion and "JH" on the knuckle guard.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, with some light spotting on the blade, a fine aged patina on the brass, and mild handling marks overall. The sheath is fair as repaired, with filler near the fittings and scuffing. Frog is very good. 2) As 1.
